Family Excursion: Sydney Taronga Zoo

Taronga_Zoo_-Sydney,_Australia-21March2006

Last weekend we ventured across Sydney to the Zoo for a family day out! πŸ™‚

Leo is obsessed with animals, he loved the aquarium and of course is just downright curious! So we thought the Zoo was definitely our next spot to check out with him.

Usually we take the Ferry, but as Leo is very temperamental after a long day, especially when he doesn’t have somewhere comfy to nap. So this time we decided to drive πŸ™‚
The drive wasn’t too bad, around 1.5hrs from our house; and its always a good opportunity to see a bit of Sydney we haven’t seen before.

We arrived to Taronga not long after opening and got straight into planning our route around the park, and what shows we were going to see throughout the day.
We decided to just do a big loop around the park, ending back at the gate; easy to follow and less complicated than picking certain exhibits to see.
We didn’t necessarily want to see any shows in particular, but we thought if we came across one of the arenas in time for a show we would stop in πŸ™‚

Leo was off like a rocket, running from exhibit to exhibit – Chatting away to all the animals and pointing like crazy (a habit I am trying to break, but he was so excited, I just let him go!)
Just like his mumma, Leo was IN LOVE with the tigers, they’re so god-damn beautiful, how can you not be obsessed with them?!
And just like dadda, Leo spent a fair bit of time in front of the orangutan enclosure laughing, clapping and chatting to the monkeys with Rick – Those two really are 2 peas-in-a-pod – Its so cute to watch! <3

Other animals that Leo zoned-in on were:
– Elephants
– Chimpanzees
– Giraffes
– Tigers

We decided against any bird shows, due to my irrational fear of them lol and not wanting to stick around for an extra 2hrs to see it.

By 2:30pm – We were all exhausted from all the walking, all the excitement and just genuinely being out all day!
It was time to head home, and for Mr Leo to get a bit of a nap in the car so he didn’t turn into a terror when we got home! πŸ™‚

It turned out to be such a beautiful day out, the weather was lovely, the Zoo is always a good choice and Leo had a blast.
I think he is the perfect age to take to the zoo, any younger and he just wouldn’t have fully understood what was going on πŸ˜€

Here’s some photos of our day out πŸ™‚
