So as you guys would have seen in my Mini Sephora Haul – I recently purchased this beautiful foundation from the Marc Jacobs Beauty line.
I could not wait to try this baby out on my face, see how it wears, how it lives up to the hype (it is many peoples holy grail foundation) and of course to just see how I like it 😀
Here is what the Sephora website says about the product:
An innovative foundation that delivers instant full coverage in a single dot—for less foundation for more coverage that lasts up to 24 hours.
What it does
Give skin the best in flawless full coverage with this foundation concentrate. This revolutionary formula offers twice as much pigment as a leading full-coverage foundation, but in an oil-free base that blends instantly across the complexion to completely cover pores, blemishes, and other imperfections with the thinnest possible layer that lasts up to 24 hours. All foundations are composed of two parts: pigment and ingredients to carry the pigment to the skin.
Re(marc)able innovates by filling its formula with as much pigment as possible, leaving little room for non-essential ingredients, including water. Not only does it contain twice as much pigment as standard, full-coverage foundations, but these pigments are made of patented golden mica to give the complexion a more radiant, natural-looking glow. The pigments are wrapped in lecithin—an ingredient with a texture that feels similar to skin— to blend effortlessly and meld with the complexion for a smooth, soft-matte finish.
What else you need to know
Re(marc)able is inspired by Marc Jacobs’s love of a radiant complexion.
Skin Type: Normal, Combination, Oily
Finish: Satin, Matte, Radiant, Natural
This product is formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
How to use
– For best results, buff into skin with The Face III Buffing Foundation Brush. Just shake, dot, and blend for a perfectly flawless complexion.
– Less foundation delivers more coverage. Customise yours with the ingenious dot applicator: one to two dots for sheer to natural coverage and three for natural to full coverage.
The packaging, of course, is absolutely beautiful. Which is no surprise for Marc Jacobs.
I love the sleek black and white monochrome combo, the mix of matte and gloss writing/logos and of course, its just beautifully simple.
And then of course, once you get inside the box is when the real magic happens; the beautiful frosted glass bottle with sleek silver band around the top, and the shiny black lid is just perfection! And following the monochrome theme of course.
The heavy glass bottle makes it feel luxurious and expensive.
Its an incredibly creamy-soft liquid formula that just glides onto the skin.
It doesn’t feel heavy at all, once it’s on I can’t actually feel it on my hand at all.
So it’s got kind of a weightless-feel to it, but definitely appears to have full coverage potential.
It sets to a semi-matte texture. It’s not completely matte, as there are still dewy parts to it, which is nice 🙂
To apply the foundation to my face, I’m using a wet beauty sponge from DollFace Brow & Makeup Studio.
[I know it says on the website to use the specific Marc Jacobs Foundation brush, but 1) I don’t have that brush and 2) I don’t really like applying my foundation with a brush]
I did follow the other steps though, dotting the foundation around my face and blending it in to the desired coverage.
It really has such beautiful coverage, the formula feels amaze on my skin and it just looks flawless!! 🙂
Now I’ve gone ahead and completed the rest of my face (concealer, setting powder, bronzer, blush, eyes, brows, lips etc) And this is how it looks completed:
I used concealer under my eyes, on my chin and down the bridge of my nose, and set those 3 zones with translucent powder. But everywhere else, I left the foundation as is.
It looks so beautiful on its own and I don’t think it needs to be matte-d down at all.
Overall, this foundation is fucking incredible. It totally lived up to all the hype I have heard along with the amazing reviews I’ve read.
It lasted all day, and only wore a little around my nose and lip areas due to excessive touching (my bad) and of course eating/drinking.
I have no gripes at all about this foundation, it is so pretty, definitely worth the money and I’ve already added it to my regular rotation of foundations on my beauty table!! <3
